This was a great book.  You should read this book.  I recommend this book because it sends chills up your spine.  Scary Stories 3 is one of the best books I have ever read.  A good story in the book is Footsteps.  A girl is waiting for her mom but a ghost or another person is in the house  You have to read the rest of the story to understand what I am talking about.  Be sure to read this book.

On a cruel night, Meggie’s father, Mo, read aloud from a book named Inkheart and read an evil ruler named Capricorn out of the book into his living room. Suddenly Meggie’s in an adventure that she thought only happened in fairy tales. They go to Meggie’s aunt’s house so Mo can fix some of her books and Capricorn’s men arrived and took Mo with them. And then that’s where the whole adventure started.

Inkheart took me 2 months to finish.  I wanted to quit, but Mrs. Woodyard wouldn’t let me.  Finishing it was worth it.

On a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, I would say this book is a 9 because it has big words that I did not know. I think my classmates should read this book.

Have you  read Paint The Wind?  If you have not read it,  you have to read it. This book tells about a girl that has an exciting adventure  trying to catch a ghost horse that her mother rode  and when she was trying to recue her a hurricane came. I do  not want to tell you more because I could talk your ears out.  I love it. It’s a long book but a good book.

I just downloaded this adorable book for 99 cents.  This is a beginning reader book about three ghosts and how they explore with colors.

The Lightning Thief, Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan, Ages 10 and up

The Lightning Thief (first book in this series) is an adventurous story of Percy Jackson, who discovers very quickly things are not as they appear.

These stories came about as a result of Rick's bedtime stories with his son.  If you've got adventurous bedtime stories, start writing them down. You just never know what might become of them.

If you've read the book, then you need to see the movie.  If you've seen the movie, you need to read the book.  Then come back to this blog and let me know which one you like better.

The movie was good, but I enjoyed the book better.

Horse Diaries: Bell's Star by Alison Hart

After studying Harriet Tubman and her work with the Underground Railroad, one of my students said, "Mrs. Woodyard, You've got to read this book."  

Dakota, Thank you for recommending this book.  It is an excellent book and goes along great with our Harriet Tubman lesson.  

If you are a horse lover, this is a must read for you.

Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater (RL 5.6, AR 3 pts)

Mr. Popper's Penguins is an adorable Newberry Honor Book.  We had fun reading it in class.  I can't wait until the movie comes out.  What was your favorite part of the story?
