The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, by Kate Diamillo

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
By Kate DiCamillo
Reading level-4.4, Points-2.0
Blog Post by Alyssa, Age 10

This is a very good book because there is a china rabbit that goes to all different places and where ever he goes he stumbles across people and they keep him for a little while then he goes some where else.

So on a scale from one to five and five being the highest I would pick five because it is an awesome book!

My favorite part is when the little boy brings Edward to a shop to get him fixed and then a little girl comes in and sees him and pulls out Edwards pocket watch and sees Edward and tells her mom that is Edward and she buys him and hr goes home.

11 Birthdays
Author: Wendy Mass
Grade Level 4.1, Pts. 7.0
Blog by Lilly, 10 years old

I think you should read 11 birthdays because it is the craziest adventure I have ever read. It’s about a boy named Leo and a girl named Amanda.  Since they were four years old they been having their birthdays together. On their tenth birthday, Amanda saw Leo in the room with his friends. When she was fixing to walk in when she heard one of Leo friends ask Leo why he still has his birthday with Amanda. Leo told his friend that he thinks she does not have many friends. Amanda gets mad and runs out crying from her own birthday party. When its Amanda and Leos 11 birthday they go to school and it’s a crazy day for them both because they are so worried that this year is not going to be a good year. So when they celebrate their birthdays at there own houses it’s not a fun time for them both. So when they wake up they think it is Saturday but when they hear the alarm go of and there moms wake them up they think they dreamed there birthday all over again.

This book has won many awards including, the Sunshine State Young Readers Award.  For more information visit http://www.wendymass.com/mass-birthdays.htm

Reading Level 4.4, Pts 5.0
Review by Emily, 10 years old

Have you seen the movie Charlotte’s web? Well it is similar to the book.  This book is about this little pig getting born and not having enough milk and the pig is weak so then Mr. Arable took an ax and was about to kill him and Fern his daughter said don’t kill him then Mr. Arable decided to give the pig to his daughter Fern. So she took care of him and then she named the pig Charlotte. When Charlotte got older Fern had to build a house for Charlotte. Mr. Arable said to Fern we have to get rid of the pig and all of a sudden Fern started to cry because she did not what to lose Charlotte. Well I do not want to ruin the story so I am going to stop so you can read the book. I hope you like it.

Review by Taylor, 10 years old

I think you should read this book because it uses a lot of detail and uses descriptive words like metaphors or similes like as fat as a pig .There is a pig named Wilbur and he lived with a girl named Fern and she thought her dad was going to kill the baby pig and he wasn’t and the mom and dad got tired of having the baby pig and so they gave it to ferns Uncle Zuckerman and so fern went and saw the baby every day. Now I am going to let    you read the rest of the book. And tell me how you like this book.
